Carlo Mollino forgotten 50 years after his death

26 August 2023

Sunday, August 27 marks the anniversary of his death. No events are scheduled in his hometown, Turin. Only the Regio Theatre will pay tribute to him with an exhibition (but in October).

The theatre reopened on April 10, 1973, with Vespri Siciliani, directed by Maria Callas, after decades of closure following the 1936 fire, rebuilt according to Mollino’s design. It was Mollino, to whom the small square from which artists and technicians access the theatre is dedicated (and which Superintendent Mathieu Jouvin hopes to work on in the future), who reinvented the theatre in its current form.
